Envisioned
as a transparent volume on a black stone base, the water sign
faces passers-by as a large ice cube, symbolizing purity of
water. In urban environment, water reaches us via an array of
pipes, and this way it is also introduced into the sign: a simple
pipe rising from the ground, supplying the fountain and returning
into the ground again. The fountain, a white stone bowl, connects
the sign to materials in the square. A water meter is incorporated
into the sign, reminding us that water is precious. The volume's
surface is printed with water molecules; at night, blue LED
lights fitted in the base illuminated it from within, transforming
it into an aquarium of blue water.
