The
focus of the project was to arrange a shelter for the existing
marketplace area and to provide a complete infrastructure demanded
by the market programme, together with new outdoor equipment.
A new basement floor was designed to house the winter market
and cooling facilities. The scheme on street level constitutes
new communication routes between neighbouring programs and establishes
a new street axis and a piazzeta together with the adjacent
Centre Office Building.
The market retail area in the atrium is flanked by two service
buildings clad in red ceramic tiles and covered with an arched
steel structure and a translucent polycarbonate canopy.
