Located
just outside the centre of Ljubljana, the scheme evolved from
the concept developed for the Vivat
Senior Living. Surrounded by trees, the structure comprises
three housing wings, two with single rooms and one with apartments.
Located away from the road, the wings are connected by a series
of glazed lobbies. Each wing is divided by a wide hallway; community
areas located on each floor are diversely oriented, thus providing
different atmospheres during the day and encouraging migrations
throughout the building. A wall runs along the east edge of
the site, separating the complex from the noise and pollution
from the road. Embedded in the wall, the non-housing building
of the complex houses doctors' offices, medical care unit and
various larger community areas.
