Apartment
Building in Prebold is located on the edge of a small town in
a rural environment. To the west, the building is oriented to
large hops fields, hops being the specific agricultural product
of the entire valley. Site position determines volume's north-south
orientation which also ensures quality light conditions and
good views. Access and an-site parking are both arranged on
the eastern site, the long western elevation is oriented to
hops fields. A dynamic apex of the volume results in a lighter
and cubic architectural expression more appropriate to the existing
urban scale. Arranged around the central hallway, smaller apartments
face east and larger apartments face west. Basement floor comprises
parking areas and storage spaces. Facade information: In view
of planar facade surfaces, a scaly structure has been chosen,
derived from the form of the typical valley produce, the hops
cob. Scaly structure of the is materialized in material, purposed
for covering roofs - sheets of fibre cement in two colours,
echoing surrounding earth hues.
