This small town sports
hall with 3000 seats was designed to house handball, basketball,
volleyball and badminton matches as well as gymnastics and
martial arts competitions. An optional recreation scheme on
the same surface divides the field surface into three basketball
fields with dividing curtains. Supplementary programmes on
sousterrain floor transform the building into a versatile
sports centre. Access is arranged though a large atrium which
becomes a vibrant plaza connected to the climbing centre,
fitness and dance halls, wellness centre, diagnostic centre
and various smaller programs. Primary hall's construction
provides a cover for most of the atrium, creating a user friendly
space in all conditions. Building's form is derived from functional,
light and energy schemes: the roof playfully opens to the
north; its undulating geometry creates a "ruffled" youthful
front elevation. The roof draws soft northern light into the
building; photovoltaic cells are mounted on southern slopes.
Heat pumps provide energy for heating and cooling. |
